Philip and Judith Sieg Pledge $500,000 to The Foundation for Mount Nittany Medical Center's Commitment to Distinction Campaign
The Foundation for Mount Nittany Medical Center has announced a $500,000 pledge from Philip and Judith Sieg to Commitment to Distinction: The Campaign for Mount Nittany Medical Center. The gift will create the Sieg Neurophysiology Center, a multidisciplinary center designed to engage medical professionals in the study, discussion and treatment options for people in our region with diseases and disorders of the nervous system.
Members of The Foundation board of directors and its Campaign Steering Committee, the Siegs are also broadly involved in national and local service as advisors, volunteers and philanthropists. They have also supported Penn State University through the formation of endowments for programs such as the University Libraries and Athletics and faculty fellowships. As a 1957 business and administration graduate of Penn State University, Philip Sieg was named an Alumni Fellow in 1988 and a Distinguished Alumnus, Penn State’s highest honor, in 1993.
Jan Ulbrecht, MD, a Penn State diabetes expert, medical director of the Mount Nittany Diabetes Foot Clinic, and endocrinologist at Centre Medical & Surgical Associates, will host an open forum of questions and answers on diabetes and pre-diabetes. During the program Dr. Ulbrecht will discuss insulin resistance and how if affects the body, diabetes risk factors and steps to preventing diabetes. Also joining the conversation from Penn State will be Lynn Parker Klees, RN, CDE, and Danielle Downs, PhD. Additional sponsors for this program include People Centre’D on Diabetes and Penn State Institute for Diabetes and Obesity.
The Mount Nittany Cancer Program has partnered with local dermatologists to host a free skin cancer screening. Anyone who is concerned about a suspicious skin lesion or mole is welcome to make an appointment, especially those with limited or no insurance. The screening will take about ten minutes; attendees should arrive ten minutes prior to their appointment.
Since 2007, Mount Nittany Medical Center has received seven Achieving Patient Care Excellence awards from VHA Pennsylvania, the regional arm of VHA, Inc., a national healthcare alliance. We invite you to research our quality statistics and review reporting available on public and industry-focused websites.
